Donations to 501(c)(3) organizations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law, but please consult with your tax advisor to verify your donation’s eligibility. Donations to 501(c)(4) organizations are NOT tax-deductible.  When we recommend an organization, we will indicate its type of tax-exempt status.

• Each type of organization is organized and operated for different purposes and is subject to different restrictions under federal tax law. 501(c)(3) organizations are organized and operated for charitable and educational purposes. They may engage in limited lobbying to influence legislation, but they are not permitted to engage in any activities to support or oppose candidates or political parties. They may engage in strictly nonpartisan activities to encourage people to register and vote, to help them understand the importance of voting, to help them make a voting plan, and to help them engage in their communities. Contributions to 501(c)(3) organizations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.  

• 501(c)(4) organizations are organized and operated to promote social welfare.  They may engage in unlimited lobbying (including supporting or opposing ballot measures) and limited activities to support or oppose candidates or political parties, provided those activities are not their primary purpose. Contributions to 501(c)(4) organizations are not tax-deductible.

Yes! Matching grants play a key role in many of our fundraising efforts. The stakes in our country are so high that some people make large donations to encourage others to give, doubling the impact of their contributions.
